Dennis P. Rivera
Managing Member | Founder

Advanced Alpha Advisers is led by Dennis P. Rivera, Founder and Managing Member. With more than three decades of experience in the commodity futures markets, Dennis began his career trading on the floor of the New York Cotton Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Today, Dennis leads a team of professionals focused on managed futures research, portfolio construction, and client advisory services. The firm works with family offices and qualified investors and family offices seeking diversification through systematic trading strategies and alternative investments.

Dennis oversees the firm’s strategic direction, manager research and due diligence, risk monitoring, and portfolio design. Drawing on decades of market experience and industry relationships, he guides the firm’s investment advisory process and the development of systematic trading initiatives.

Additional professionals and strategic partners support the firm’s research, trading, operations, and investor relations functions.

James Montlake
Portfolio Manager

James Montlake is a Portfolio Manager at Advanced Alpha Advisers, where he focuses on systematic trading strategies in the global futures markets. He is responsible for the development and implementation of quantitative models used within the firm’s systematic trading programs.

Mr. Montlake has experience in systematic trading, quantitative research, and strategy development across global derivatives markets. His work focuses on identifying market patterns through data-driven analysis and applying disciplined risk management within systematic trading frameworks.

He works closely with the firm’s leadership on strategy development, research initiatives, and the ongoing refinement of systematic trading models.
